Frequently asked questions on issues with:

I’m having a problem connecting my USB device

Is there a problem with the USB host controller or the root hub? If there is a problem with the USB host controller or the root hub, a USB device might not work.

To check the status of these devices

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  3. Right-click the entry for your USB host controller, and then click Properties.
  4. Look in the Device status box to see if it mentions any problems with the device, and then click OK.
  5. Click USB Root Hub, and then repeat steps 3 and 4 for this device.

Note:

  • To open Device Manager, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
